It's no surprise now that Coach B has yet another "Coach-of-the-Year" award under his belt, and that John Goldsberry graces the cover of the sports section in this morning's USA Today. We also found out that we're going to be playing George Washington, who is either the 11 or 14 in the country's final polls, depending on which one you're looking at. Likewise, there's a lot of buzz about the Seahawks, with many even saying we're going to pull an upset. In my opinion, the Blue Devils might need to start thinking about the Seahawks that are on their way to try and spoil JJ and company's fun. So, it's off to Greensboro, and time to soar again. This time, it's for all or nothing--and these Seahawks WON'T settle for coming home empty handed.

Sammy C. You see, apparently computers don't like birds...and Sammy's thoughts are delayed. (And I thought it was hard enough typing with just four feathers on each hand!) Nonetheless, we're back in Wilmington, and we're all fired up. THE NCAA TOURNAMENT AWAITS! Sunday I'm going to throw a little bit of a part at Trask Coliseum to see when, where, and who we play--so EVERYONE should come on out and support the players. Rumor has it Coach B is even going to address everyone after the selection show is done. We're excited, we're ready to play, and this year I think the Seahawks will have a little something special in store!

Also, I have to give a Sammy Shout-Out to Jamie Moncrief at UNCW...take a look at yours truly peering over a Hofstra student section during Monday's championship game.

Until the next time...

Sammy C. I called that one too! Today we took on the Huskies, and while I have all the respect in the world for some of those players--you have to support your team. Richmond Coliseum was Trask Coliseum today, and tomorrow let's keep it that way! Tomorrow night is the championship, and chance for an automatic NCAA bid against Hofstra. Basically 40 minutes sit between me, our Seahawks, and that tournament gold--this will be a good one. After this it's off to Fairfax where our Lady Seahawks will attempt to match the men's triumphs. As I was sunbathing at the beach this morning, scaring off my annoying cousins (the seagulls, of course), it hit me that in two days I will make the trek northward to Richmond Coliseum. The last time I was in that coliseum I surprised some people; you see, nobody gave my Seahawks credit for being quite as good as they were. This year, however, my hardwood hawks are atop the CAA, and seeded number one in the tournament. With four seniors who are really hungry to get back to the NCAA’s, our skipper, Brownell, who has been named collegeinsider.com’s CAA coach of the year for the second consecutive year, and myself, the most fierce mascot in the CAA, I can smell the title game already. At the same time, I tip my feathers to skipper Hancock, as her Lady Seahawks play their final game in Trask tonight, preparing for their own trek northward to Fairfax. Fear not though Lady Seahawks, I will see you in a few days in Fairfax as well. I digress though—you see, what it boils down to is that Saturday I will lead my Seahawks to face a formidable opponent. Either Drexel or Delaware will try to dethrone my number one seed, and if history tells us anything, we know not to underestimate them. What it boils down to though is we will play either dragons or blue hens, and let’s face it—dragons aren’t real, and hens, even if they are blue and fight, don’t scare this bird.

I leave you with a little poem I wrote:

Beckham, Mitch, Taylor, and John,
This fight is for you and all you have begun.
It’s time for the Seahawks to soar,
And bring gold and NCAA tournament bids to Wilmington once more.

GO HAWKS!

Sammy C.
